Alex Bond: four-part blacksmithing class

Join local artist and MakerLab guest instructor Alex Bond for a four-part blacksmithing class.  Alex will instruct students in the fundamental topics of lighting the forge, understanding metalurgy, and exploring techniques of manipulating molten metal into functional and/or artistic creations.  The classes are scheduled on four consecutive Saturdays.  If students are confident, they are encouraged to independently practice the skills they learn in between the Saturday classes.

Students should wear some form of natural fiber clothing such as wool or heavy cotton with full length upper and lower body coverage and closed-toed leather shoes.  Clothing should not be excessively baggy.  If you have your own personal protective equipment, please bring this to the class.  This may include hearing protection, safety glasses, grind shield, welding hood, and leather gloves.  If you have longer hair, please bring something to pull it back for safety.

Students must have completed the Intro to Metal Shop class prior to attending this class.  The class does require full enrollment, four students, for it to be held.
