MakerLab and Facilities Manager
The MakerLab is hiring! We are looking for a MakerLab and Facilities Manager to join our team at the MakerLab/Powerhouse campus. The ideal candidate would have interpersonal skills and a passion for the maker culture, reveling in the nature of engineering-oriented pursuits such as electronics, 3D printing, and robotics, as well as knowledge in metalworking and woodworking. This person would be a handyman-type who works well independently on both short and long term projects as well.
The Manager will oversee new and existing MakerLab memberships through scheduling safety orientations, walkthroughs, and introductory classes for high-use machines. The Manager will be the liaison between the MakerLab council, Powerhouse staff, and MakerLab members, communicating interorganizational priorities and projects. The position will oversee both indoor and outdoor aspects of campus including building maintenance, snow removal, lawn care, etc. This position often works with volunteers and community service members.
On the MakerLab side, an ideal candidate would be passionate about project-based education and have an educational background. Familiarity with machines such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and vinyl cutters are preferred. On the Facilities side, an ideal candidate would have a well rounded background in areas like plumbing, electrical, and wood and metal working. They will be responsible for maintaining maintenance records, safety equipment, security, and storage all while following a yearly budget. Familiarity with snow removal equipment and basic construction skills are preferred.
