Lathe Basics – Shot Glasses! w/ Ryan Franceschi
In this class, students will learn the basics of the MakerLab’s Grizzly lathe and create a customized shot glass. We will learn how to secure wood with the chuck, drill holes using the drill chuck in the tailstock, as well as use a mandrel and drill chuck in the headstock to secure an item. We will learn the basic of using the carbide tools to rough an item round, shape the item and investigate different sanding and finishing techniques. Each student will have the opportunity to work the lathe and if time permits design and shape a shot glass.
Note: In order to ensure a quality class and time working the lathe the number of participants is limited. Please sign up early to secure your spot.
